Biography

With an MBBS from Thrissur Medical College and an MD in Geriatric Medicine from AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Afeef-A is Carepro Assist's Geriatric Physician and Healthy Ageing Expert. He provides comprehensive, personalised care to help older adults maintain their health, independence, and quality of life.

His services include a dedicated memory clinic offering cognitive screening and strategies to support cognitive health; age-appropriate vaccinations; fall-risk assessment and fall-prevention guidance; nutrition advice tailored to each individual's age and medical conditions; sleep assessment with non-pharmacological approaches to sleep management; and preventive care to reduce the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures.

He also leads a geriatric oncology service, where every person diagnosed with a malignancy undergoes a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment. This evaluates multiple domains — including physical function, cognition, nutrition, polypharmacy, and social vulnerability — that standard performance scales frequently miss, giving a more accurate reflection of an older patient's physiological reserve. Validated risk-stratification tools are applied to estimate an individual's susceptibility to severe chemotherapy and immunotherapy toxicities, so oncology teams can anticipate treatment-related complications and tailor cancer therapies safely to the individual.
